We are pleased to announce the release of Gensym G2 version 2024.2, the latest update in the G2 2024 major release line.
This release delivers new functional enhancements, expanded platform support, and important stability and reliability fixes across both Standard and Enterprise editions.

Enhancements
Programmatic Inspect Session Launch
Issue ID: AGP-18 / G2-099

Introduced support for launching an Inspect session programmatically with predefined commands.

Enables teams to store commonly used Inspect commands and execute them without manual editing.

g2-system-command (inspect, this window, <text-parameter>, command)where the
TEXT-PARAMETERcontains the predefined Inspect command.
Improved Identification of Remote G2-to-G2 Connections

Enhanced the
g2-to-g2-data-interface-connection-originattribute to include both host and port information. -
Connection origins are now reported in
host:portformat, improving traceability and diagnostics in distributed environments.
Issues Resolved
Mouse-Wheel Zoom on Workspaces Without Scrollbars

Resolved an issue where zooming via mouse wheel did not add scrollbars, resulting in hidden workspace areas.

Scrollbars now appear automatically as expected.
Regression in Rules with Child-Class Attributes
Issue ID: AGP-17 / G2-109

Fixed a regression where rules referencing child-class attributes caused errors when evaluated at the parent-class level.

Restores expected rule behavior across class hierarchies.
Secure Connections in G2 OPC UA Bridge
Issue ID: GENSYMBSE-4

Added support for secure encrypted connections between the G2 OPC UA Bridge and OPC UA servers.

Requires G2 OPC UA Bridge version 16.0.5, available separately via the Release Portal.
MQTT Client Disconnect on Large Messages
Issue ID: GENSYMBSE-23

Fixed a size-calculation defect that caused MQTT client disconnections for messages larger than 244 bytes.

Ensures full compliance with the MQTT standard.
GDA Block Deletion Crash
Issue ID: IBUENG-1602

Resolved a memory double-free issue that could cause G2 to crash when deleting GDA blocks with short-circuited inputs and outputs.

Memory handling has been corrected.

License files from earlier G2 versions (2015–2023) are not compatible with G2 2024.2.
